Cardinals hope to re-sign 3-4 pending free agents

The Arizona Cardinals have been very active in the offseason trying to upgrade their roster. They have claimed one player off waivers and signed three others who were cut by their former team.

One thing they have not yet done is sign any of their soon-to-be free agents to contract extensions.

That is something they are working on, according to general manager Steve Keim.

“We have continued to have conversations with their representatives,” he said at the NFL combine. “There are a number of guys, somewhere in the three to four range, of guys who will be unrestricted free agents that have had conversations about coming back.”

Who are those players?

Defensive tackle Rodney Gunter is probably one of them. Other possibilities are linebackers Deone Bucannon and Markus Golden. On the offensive line, Oday Aboushi and Joe Barksdale, both of whom were late-season pickups, could be in that group.

Free agency officially begins on March 13.
