Cardinals helmet even get ranked near bottom of league

Arizona Cardinals fans often feel picked on because their team often is listed low in all sorts of rankings. This will not make them feel any better.

In a recent rankings of every NFL team’s helmets, the Cardinals again find themselves near the bottom of the list.

According to sister site Touchdown Wire’s Barry Werner, only two teams have a worse helmet.

Arizona’s white helmet with the angry Cardinal face comes in at No. 30.

The Cardinals had the second-best look when they played in St. Louis, to the baseball birds. And now that they are in the desert, the basic white helmet with the bird on it is pretty tame, no matter how much bite they try to make the bird have.

Even local Cardinals fans have pined for something new. Many would like to at least see a new helmet color. The bird itself is improved over the older version.

However, it would appear that the Cardinals’ overall history influences the rankings. How much worse are Arizona’s helmets than the plain white helmet of the Bills, Jets and Dolphins with their logos? Does the stripe make that much of a difference?

The white helmet of the Chargers with a lightning bolt? Seems no better or no worse.

With a team name like the Cardinals, it is hard to dress up. The logo has to be a Cardinal. There are plenty of bird teams in the league. Should the logo be a flying Cardinal about to attack?

Ranking helmets is pretty useless. Could the Cardinals have a better helmet? Many would argue a black helmet would be great.

Other than that, it really isn’t any better or worse than any other team’s helmet.
