Cardinals have reportedly met with Washington safety Taylor Rapp

While the Arizona Cardinals appear to be set at the safety position, at least with the starters, they have been doing a lot of scouting of safeties in the NFL draft. Previous names of safeties the team has been connected to in the draft are Maryland’s Darnell Savage, Mississippi State’s Johnathan Abram and Boston College’s Will Harris.

The Cardinals also have their eyes on Washington safety Taylor Rapp.

And why not? The Cardinals have had success with former Washington safeties. They have Budda Baker, a current starter and Zeke Turner, who was a special teams stud for the team.

According to NFL Network’s Omar Ruiz, the Cardinals are one of several teams Rapp has already met with leading up to the draft.

In three seasons, Rapp had seven interceptions, six sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss. He had more than 50 tackles every season.

He did not run the 40 at the combine because of a hip injury he had during the season, but his other agility tests suggest he is highly athletic.

At 6-0 and 208 pounds, Rapp had a 35-inch vertical leap, a 9-7 broad jump and ridiculous times in the three-cone and short shuttle (6.82 and 3.99 seconds).

He was a Freshman All-American and Freshman Defensive Player of the Year in 2016. He earned all Pac-12 honors his final two seasons and multiple All-American honors in 2018.
