Cardinals have most convinced they will draft Kyler Murray 1st overall

The Arizona Cardinals and Oklahoma quarterback prospect Kyler Murray continue to be connected at the NFL combine. Many believe he will be their selection with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 draft, despite having traded up just a year ago to draft Josh Rosen in the first round.

That belief is apparently spreading.

NFL Network’s Kimberly Jones reported the Cardinals are expected to draft Murray.

“In terms of Murray, people are beginning to believe almost universally he will indeed be the No. 1 pick in this draft by the Arizona Cardinals,” Jones reported on Saturday.

This might be exactly what the Cardinals want teams to believe.

The truth is the Cardinals cannot know for sure yet who will be their first-round pick. They have not conducted interviews yet with all the prospects. They have not done all of the predraft work and have not built their board.

This continues to be a belief of many and not a real report, other than being a report of beliefs of others.

What will signal the Cardinals’ intentions is if and when rumors of shopping Josh Rosen begin to emerge as legitimate reports. When that happens, then that will make it clear they wish to replace him, meaning Murray could be the pick at the top of the draft.
