Cardinals GM Steve Keim not having same success with veteran free agents

Arizona Cardinals fans are quite used to seeing the team add veteran free agents late in the offseason or during training camp. He has done it for years, adding key contributors late in the game.

The Cardinals have signed players like Eric Winston, John Abraham, Chris Johnson, Jermaine Gresham, Dwight Freeney, Josh Bynes, Tramon Williams, Tre Boston and others.

However, the “Keim Time” magic touch has not worked this year. In the last couple of weeks, the Cardinals have been turned down by at least three unsigned veterans who remain unsigned. Receiver Michael Crabtree came and went. So did defensive linemen Corey Liuget and Clinton McDonald in the last week.

Is Keim lowballing these players? Is their salary cap situation coming into play? Do players not want to come to the Cardinals right now for less?

Whatever the reason, it is something new for fans.

The team needs help at cornerback, offensive line and defensive line. They have been unable to add anyone.

Has Keim’s magic touch worn out? For everyone’s sake, let’s hope not.
