Cardinals/Giants features rare matchup of top-10 rookie QBs

The Arizona Cardinals and New Yorks will both send their rookie quarterbacks to the field to face the other team. Kyler Murray, selected first overall in the 2019 draft, has started every game this season for the Cardinals. Daniel Jones, drafted sixth overall, has started three games so far.

The matchup is rare.

As noted by Giants Wire’s John Fennelley, it is only the 10th time since 1970 when the NFL and AFL merged that two rookie quarterbacks drafted in the top 10 faced one another.

It hasn’t happened since 2015 when Jameis Winston, drafted first overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that year, faced Marcus Mariota, drafted second overall by the Tennessee Titans.

History favors the Cardinals slightly in this scenario. The quarterback drafted higher in these matchups has won five of the nine matchups. Murray was drafted before Jones.

The Cardinals are underdogs in this game but have won two consecutive games.
