Cardinals get very average grades for work in free agency

The Arizona Cardinals have made a number of moves in the offseason in free agency so far. They released tackle D.J. Humphries, re-signed a number of depth players and specialists. Then they added both potential starters and depth players on both offense and defense.

There is no question that the roster has more talent overall, especially on defense.

But do others think of the Cardinals’ moves so far?

Pro Football Focus isn’t particularly impressed, giving them a C for their offseason work so far.

Defensive lineman Justin Jones is seen as a nice addition but “this is probably the deal we view as the most player-friendly signing so far this offseason.”

The addition of cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting is viewed with upside and defensive lineman Bilal Nichols is “a rock-solid player.”

A C isn’t bad. That’s improvement. But it isn’t good, either.

Going into a season in which the Cardinals need to be better than a below-average roster, a C in early free agency isn’t a bad thing.
