Cardinals draft picks get first uniform numbers for rookie camp

The Arizona Cardinals kicked off their rookie minicamp and their 11 draft picks all suited up with their first uniform numbers. What numbers will they use, at least for the start of their offseason work?

  • QB Kyler Murray: No. 1
  • CB Byron Murphy: No. 33
  • WR Andy Isabella: No. 89
  • DL Zach Allen: No. 97
  • WR Hakeem Butler: No. 17
  • S Deionte Thompson: No. 30
  • OL Lamont Gaillard: No. 65
  • WR KeeSean Johnson: No. 19
  • OL Joshua Miles: No. 66
  • DL Michael Dogbe: No. 91
  • TE Caleb Wilson: No. 84

Murray, of course, wore No. 1 in college at Oklahoma.

At least two of the picks’ numbers have some significance because of where they were drafted.

Murphy is wearing No. 33 because he was the 33rd pick in the draft.

Johnson has picked No. 19 because he was the 19th receiver selected in the draft.

One interesting note is Thompson’s No. 30. Fellow safety Rudy Ford previously has worn that number. He is now listed as wearing No. 23, which freed up No. 30 for Thompson.

These numbers are certainly not permanent. After cuts happen after the preseason or even before then, they might change.

After all, cornerback Patrick Peterson did not begin with No. 21. During training camp of his rookie season, he wore No. 31.
