The Arizona Cardinals are trying to get younger, it seems. Of the 90 players on their roster, only six are 30 years old or older and only two others will turn 30 by the end of the year.
This was first noted by PHNX’s Howard Balzer, although that number was previously seven because it also included receiver DeAndre Hopkins, whose release was announced on Friday.

K Matt Prater
Prater will turn 39 in August. He is the senior statesman of the team.
He re-signed with the team in the offseason a two-year deal. He will make the roster.
QB Colt McCoy
McCoy will turn 37 in September. With $2.25 million in guaranteed salary, he is going to make the roster and will likely be the team’s Week 1 starter while Kyler Murray continues his recovery from ACL surgery.
OL Kelvin Beachum
Beachum will have his 34th birthday in June. He re-signed this offseason on a two-year contract.
He will make the roster and is slated to start at right tackle, although he could lose his starting job to rookie Paris Johnson.
TE Zach Ertz
Ertz will turn 33 in November.
He is in the second year of his three-year contract and, once he is fully healthy following ACL surgery, he will be a big part of the offense.
CB Antonio Hamilton
Hamilton turned 30 already this year in January. He re-signed this offseason on a fully guaranteed one-year contract. He will be on the team and could be a starter.
QB Jeff Driskel
Driskel turned 30 in April. He will have to battle with David Blough and rookie Clayton Tune for a roster spot.
Will turn 30: DL Carlos Watkins, OL D.J. Humphries
Humphries, the team’s starting left tackle, will turn 30 at the end of December.
Watkins, a free agent addition, will turn 30 at the beginning of December. He likely will make the team as one of the most experienced defensive linemen on the roster but isn’t guaranteed a spot.
