Cardinals defense worse than ever vs. Rams in first half

The Arizona Cardinals defense somehow managed to get worse after the bye week. After getting embarrassed on Monday night in a 45-6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, the Rams built up a 20-0 halftime lead over Arizona.

The Cardinals weren’t even competitive.

The Rams rolled up 390 total yards of offense. Quarterback Jared Goff had 323 passing yards and a touchdown at the half, completing 24-of-31 passes.

Two receivers had over 100 yards at the half. Receiver Robert Woods led the way with nine catches for 112 yards, while tight end Tyler Higbee, starting in place of in the injured Gerald Everett, had seven for 107 yards and a touchdown.

The Cardinals have not slowed the running game either. Todd Gurley carried the ball 11 times for 62 yards and a touchdown.

The Rams went 3-for-6 on third down and could have been up 23-0 had Greg Zuerlein not missed a field goal on the Rams’ second possession.

Meanwhile, things did not go any better on offense. quarterback Kyler Murray was sacked three times and only had 67 passing yards. They rushed for 26 yards total and did not convert on any of their five third downs.

It is the worst the Cardinals looked since the start of the season.
