Cardinals DC Vance Joseph wants to prove himself again after getting fired by Broncos

Vance Joseph had interest from other teams after he was fired as head coach of the Denver Broncos, but he chose to work with Kliff Kingsbury and run the Arizona Cardinals defense. He wanted a job where he could re-establish himself in the league.

“After two years of being a head coach in Denver, obviously not winning enough game, that was tough,” he said on the team’s podcast, “Big Red Rage.” “When you’re a competitor, you want to win, and when you’re fired and it’s said it’s not good enough, that hurts.

“I wanted a job where I could go in and put my scheme in, the 3-4 attack scheme, and have a chance to re-prove myself.”

The Cardinals were looking for that sort of coordinator. After one failed year under Steve Wilks and Al Holcomb’s defensive scheme, team president Michael Bidwill and general manager Steve Keim made it clear the new defensive coordinator would have to run a 3-4 scheme and attack.

He said he and Kingsbury both get to prove themselves in Arizona.

“I want a chance to go out and play great defense and help our football team win,” he said.
