Cardinals DC Vance Joseph confident rookie DL Zach Allen will be successful

The Arizona Cardinals, despite adding many veterans to contribute on defense for defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, they drafted at least two defensive players they expect to contribute as a rookie.

One is defensive lineman Zach Allen, their third-round pick this year.

Joseph gave a brief scouting report of Allen in a radio interview on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM.

First of all, he called Allen “a good pro” who should have been drafted higher than he was.

After all, the team had a first-round grade on him.

“(He has) great height, great explosiveness and he plays hard,” Joseph continued. “He’s got a knack for pass rushing on guards, winning on guards and knocking down balls.”

He even said he has a little bit of J.J. Watt in him because of his knack for knocking down passes.

“Person-wise, he’s competitive, he’s so smart. He’s going to be successful.”

He should have a role on defense this season with a defensive line with little proven depth. His success will go a long way for the defense now and in the years to come.
