Cardinals cut Desmond Harrison after felony assault charges announced

The Arizona Cardinals have moved quickly on tackle Desmond Harrison, who is wanted on felony assault charges in North Carolina.

Arizona announced it has cut Harrison, a move first reported by ESPN’s Field Yates.

Harrison was with the team just over than a month. He was claimed after being waived by the Cleveland Browns on June 6.

Harrison was an undrafted rookie in 2018 and began the season with the Browns as their starting left tackle, but he was benched after eight games. After arriving late to minicamp this year, which was one too many mistakes for him, Harrison was cut.

The Cardinals assumed no risk in claiming Harrison off waivers. They will carry no dead money against the salary cap. This move might signal that the Cardinals seeking to sign another tackle, though.

Their main backups at tackle currently are veteran Rees Odhiambo, second-year Korey Cunningham, seventh-round pick Joshua Miles and undrafted rookie William Sweet.
