Cardinals could have 1st-round trade options in draft with 3 teams

As the Arizona Cardinals have only six picks in this year’s NFL draft and don’t have a selection in the second round, trading down in the first round is a somewhat appealing idea. As always, it requires that there is a team willing to move up, but it appears the Cardinals could have three teams to work with, based on a new report.

According to SI.com’s Albert Breer, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons “seem to be investigating it pretty pointedly.”

The Bucs, Broncos and Falcons have the 14th, 15th and 16th picks in the draft. The Bucs and Broncos appear to be targeting an offensive lineman.

The Cardinals have been connected with the four top offensive tackle prospects (Andrew Thomas, Mekhi Becton, Tristan Wirfs and Jedrick Wills) and receiver CeeDee Lamb since the combine. However, recent player names coming out who have met with the Cardinals appear to suggest a high likelihood trading.

Players like Oklahoma linebacker Kenneth Murray, Florida cornerback CJ Henderson, offensive lineman Josh Jones and cornerback Jeff Gladney, all who have had contact with the Cardinals, are players projected to be selected closer to the middle of the first round and not in the top 10.

The first round of the draft is in 10 days. We will see if the Cardinals are dealers when the eighth pick in the round is up.
