Cardinals claim former Browns OT Desmond Harrison off waivers

The Arizona Cardinals have top priority on any waiver claim in the offseason because of their 2018 record. They announced Thursday that they were awarded a waiver claim on Browns left tackle Desmond Harrison, whom Cleveland waived Wednesday.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported he was headed to Arizona prior to the announcement.

Because of their 3-13 record in 2018, the worst record in the league, they have No. 1 priority on any waiver claim, meaning if they want a player who has been waived by another team, they get him.

Since December, they have acquired safety D.J. Swearinger and linebacker Tanner Vallejo off waivers. Harrison joins Vallejo, who was also waived by the Browns in the offseason.

Listed as 6-foot-6 and 305 pounds, he played and started eight games at left tackle for the Browns as an undrafted rookie in 2018. He was benched after eight games.

He will battle for a spot on the roster with 2018 seventh-round pick Korey Cunningham and seventh-round pick Joshua Miles, as well as others who play tackle.

To make room for Harrison, former AAF tackle Andrew Lauderdale was waived.
