Cardinals, Chandler Jones making big charitable contributions in tough times

While the world is struggling with handling the coronavirus pandemic, with sports closing down and people having to stay home, losing income, the Arizona Cardinals are stepping up and so is linebacker Chandler Jones.

The team announced this week it has made a $1 million founding contribution to the AZ Coronavirus Relief Fund. The fund will provide financial support to organizations working to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19 in Arizona.

It will initially focus on getting personal protective equipment to medical workers on the front lines, as well as food banks, homeless shelters, domestic violence facilities and also providing technology to disadvantaged students with schools moving to remote and online instruction.

Jones is making his own contribution as well, The team also announced he is donating over 150,000 meals to food banks in both Arizona and his hometown of Endicott, NY to assist with families affected by the Coronavirus outbreak.

Jones is providing meals to St. Mary’s Food Bank and Midwest Food Bank of Arizona while also donating to Mother Teresa’s Cupboard through the Catholic Charities of Broome County in New York.

This is just the sort of response there should be from those who are able to make such contributions.
