Cardinals CB Malcolm Butler’s cap hit a little more than $2M in 2021

The Arizona Cardinals have been getting free agents on small deals this offseason. The latest is cornerback Malcolm Butler.

He agreed to a deal that is worth up to $6 million if he gets all his incentives. However, the base amount for his deal is minimal for a player expected to be the Cardinals’ No. 1 cornerback.

The base value of his deal is $3.25 million. His cap hit will only be $2.16 million this year.

The details are on Over the Cap.

He gets $2.175 million in a signing bonus. He will make the league minimum of $1.075 million in salary. It is fully guaranteed. The Cardinals added a voided year in 2022 to reduce the cap hit by a little more than $1 million.

After his contract voids next offseason, he will be a free agent and the Cardinals will carry a little more than $1 million in dead money against next year’s salary cap.

Even if he hits all his incentives, getting someone of his caliber at a maximum of $6 million is a steal.
