Cardinals can still hold training camp at State Farm Stadium

Aa recent report stated the NFL told teams they must hold training camp at their own facilities. That presumably meant no fans and no State Farm Stadium for the Arizona Cardinals.

That isn’t necessarily the case.

The team released a statement stating that the NFL includes home stadiums as a site for training camp, which means State Farm Stadium is still a possibility.

The team does not have more details than that. “More specific details concerning training camp are not yet available and like almost everything else, continue to evolve,” the statement says.

If the team can hold training camp at the stadium, it does open the door to having fans in attendance, although that seems unlikely right now because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Cardinals, based on their preseason opener on August 15, would normally open camp on July 31. When teams actually report for camp is a situation that could change, based on how things are going with the pandemic.
