Cardinals announce signing of supplemental draft pick Jalen Thompson

The Arizona Cardinals selected safety Jalen Thompson last week in the supplemental draft, using a fifth-round pick. The team announced today he is under contract. He signed a four-year deal with the team and will miss no time in training camp.

Rookies reported to training camp today so getting him signed was important, especially since he did not participate in the offseason program.

Thompson played in 39 games in three seasons for the Washington State Cougars, collecting 191 tackles and intercepting six passes.

Thompson is 5-foot-10 and 186 pounds and projects as a versatile defensive back. He is a safety who should be able to play slot cornerback.

He will battle rookie Deionte Thompson, veteran Josh Shaw and third-year player Rudy Ford for a spot on the final roster.
