Cardinals announce signing of CB Josh Shaw

The Arizona Cardinals have addressed their defensive backfield in free agency. The team announced it signed defensive back Josh Shaw to a one-year contract on Monday.

Shaw was a fourth-round draft pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2015 and played three seasons there before splitting time in 2018 with the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, playing in four games for each team. He has played cornerback and safety.

He has started 14 career games out of 55 he has appeared in and has one career interception to go with 108 career tackles. He has 14 career special teams tackles.

He knows Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, who was Shaw’s position coach his rookie year with the Bengals.

He is 6-1, 200 pounds.

More than his play on the field in the NFL, he is known for something that happened in college at USC. He jumped off a balcony, broke both of his ankles and lied to his coaches about how and why it happened.

That event seems to be behind him. He will add depth to a defensive backfield that still does not have a nickel corner established.
