Cardinals add pair of veteran CBs to practice squad

The Arizona Cardinals are not in a great situation at cornerback at the moment. Malcolm Butler has retired, at least for now, and Robert Alford is on the COVID reserve.

In practice on Wednesday, their three main cornerbacks in practice were Byron Murphy, rookie Marco Wilson and Luq Barcoo.

Alford is expected back soon but the Cardinals have added a pair of players at the position to the practice squad.

According to Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro and also Texas reporter Aaron Wilson, the Cardinals have signed veteran cornerback Rasul Douglas.

Also, according to Gambadoro, they have added cornerback Antonio Hamilton to the practice squad.

Douglas has played four years in the NFL, three with the Philadelphia Eagles and last season with the Carolina Panthers. He was with the Las Vegas Raiders in the preseason. He was a third-round pick in 2017.

He is 6-2 and 209 pounds. He has played 60 games in his career and started 29 of them.

Hamilton has played five seasons in the NFL, two with the Raiders, two with the Giants and last season with the Chiefs. He is 6-0 and 190 and has mostly played schedule teams. He has two career starts in his 57 games played.

Those moves will likely be announced Thursday.
