Cardinals 2019 stats countdown: 28 days until season opener

There are now exactly four weeks — 28 days — until the Arizona Cardinals open their 2019 regular season at home against the Detroit Lions. We continue the countdown with stats in team history for each day.

Today we find stats for the No. 28.

Quarterback Josh McCown fumbled 28 times when he played for the Cardinals.

Beanie Wells had 28 receptions while a member of the team.

Ward Cuff made 28 extra points in 1946.

Three players scored a total of 28 points for the Cardinals in their career. That includes Obafemi Ayanbadejo, who played for the Cardinals from 2004-2006.

Antonio Smith and Tyrann Mathieu had 28 tackles for loss.

The third-highest total of touchdown passes in a season is 28. Charley Johnson did it in 1963 and Neil Lomax did in 1984. Both were Pro Bowlers those seasons.

Neil Lomax, Josh McCown, Tom Tupa and John Skelton all rushed 28 times in a season.

Seven different players have had 28 catches in a season. The last was Early Doucet in 2012.

Chandler Catanzaro made 28 field goals in 2015. Five different kickers made 28 extra points in a season, including Neil Rackers in 2004.

A quarterback has completed 28 passes in a game 18 times. Carson Palmer did it four times.

A player has had 28 rushing attempts in a game 10 times. David Johnson last did in 2016 against the Seattle Seahawks.

We will have stats for the no. 27 tomorrow.
