Cardinal Tagle reelected to lead int'l Catholic charities network

MANILA, Philippines – Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle was reelected as head of the world's biggest network of Catholic charities.

Cardinal Tagle was elected as president of Caritas Internationalis to a new 4-year term at their general assembly in Rome, Italy on Friday, May 24, reported CBCP News

First elected in 2015, Tagle is the first Asian leader of Caritas Internationalis, composed of 165 charity organizations.

The gathering from May 23 to 28 brought together around 450 representatives of the member organizations. This year's theme was, "A single human family, a common home."

Pope Francis presided a mass on May 23 at St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican to open the assembly.
