Cardiff woman to race across the countryside with stranger without any clothes on for new E4 show

A Cardiff woman will race naked across the countryside with a stranger in a new TV show airing on E4 next week.

Laura Poole, 29, will feature in the pilot episode of ‘Naked, Alone and Racing to Get Home’ on Wednesday, October 6.

The show will see two pairs of strangers racing across the country completely naked and without any of their possessions.

The winning pair will receive a cash prize for charity.

Laura, who runs the popular blog ‘Love Your Damn Self’, was asked to apply for the show after producers saw her account of taking part in Cardiff's Naked Bike Ride in July.

After two stages of selection, Laura was chosen to participate in the show.

She said: “It’s a big thing putting yourself out there, but doing that on TV is quite a vulnerable thing to do.

“I thought I had the opportunity to show a ‘normal’ body on TV. There are a lot of shows where people look a certain way, so this was an opportunity to go and show a body which is different to that.”

Laura promotes body positivity online, and saw this as a chance to practice what she preaches.

She said: “I can’t go around telling people to love themselves and preaching that if I am not willing to do that myself.

“It was very nerve-wracking. The strange thing was being followed around by cameras. We had two cameras on us for the whole three days.

“It was a massive challenge. Being naked wasn’t even what I was most scared about. There were questions like where are we going to sleep? And what are we going to eat?”

Laura and the other participants were not told where they were going before the show began. Nor had they met.

Laura said: “We had no idea about the location. I did not get to meet the other people before the start of the show. We were dumped in the countryside, partnered up and had to get from point A to point B within three days - with no clothes.

“I was hoping to be partnered with someone who had incredible survival skills. You’ll have to wait and see how that turned out though.”

The contestants were faced with unique challenges over the course of three days. With no phone, and no clothes, they had to navigate their way to the finish line.

Laura added: “We weren’t just being stripped of our clothes, we were being stripped of the outside world. No phone equals no communication.

“And not just that, I normally rely on maps on my phone to find my way around Cardiff. I can’t give away any spoilers but I’m here now, so you know I got through it.”

You can watch Laura and the other contestants at 9pm on Naked, Alone and Racing to Get Home on Wednesday, October 6 on E4.
