Cardiff today: Rhiwbina library 50th anniversary and Stolen Bike Cardiff

Good morning Cardiff!

Today, Rhiwbina library celebrates its 50th anniversary from 10am. Local police and schools have been invited to the celebrations which include a quiz and prize as well as refreshments. There will also be some background information available about the library from the last 50 years.

Also today, to mark the start of the Ryder Cup in Wales, the Cardiff Marriott Hotel is bringing the European and American rivalry into its kitchens with a battle of the breakfasts. Guests of the hotel will choose between the traditional Welsh breakfast, complete with locally sourced Welsh sausages, Penclawdd cockle and laverbread cake and, the all-American feast, piled high with American pancakes and syrup-soaked waffles.

A new website hoping to trace lost or stolen bikes in Cardiff has gone live. Stolen Bike Cardiff was created by Canton cyclist Dafydd Meurig and showcases the exact details of each stolen bike in the hope more information about it might come forward. Contributions can be emailed to stolencardiff@gmail.com.

Education minister Leighton Andrews approves Cardiff council's plans to close Llanedeyrn High School in Penylan and establish a Welsh-medium secondary school in the east of the city. Read the BBC Wales report here.
