Good morning Cardiff!
Some flights were cancelled at Cardiff Airport yesterday after Irish Aviation Authority and National Air Traffic service closed some UK and Irish airspace due to the ash slight floating over from Iceland. All flights were reopened in the afternoon however – we'll keep an eye on this today but click on the airport website for more info.

Some people have been tweeting their difficulties with managing the system of voting by post or proxy. But no one can be having such a hard time in the process as Liz Kearsley – who wanted to vote for a candidate in her hometown constituency Cardiff North all the way from Canada. After issues with getting postal votes sent on time, and printers which don't use A4 sizes, Kearsley was finally defeated by being overly careful:
"I am unable to vote despite my proxy registration having arrived on time, thanks to my dedication to overcome everything, even the volcano. Upon asking why I am told… because I hadn't cancelled my postal vote!"

In more election news, if you are staying up late to find out the election results Press Association have predicted declaration times for Cardiff North, Cardiff Central and Cardiff South and Penarth results will be announced at 2.30am, and Cardiff West at 3am.
