Cardiff today: On Collecting, Christmas nativity and Crumbs 40th birthday

Good morning Cardiff – lots on today!

This afternoon an event will take place looking at contemporary art in Wales, organised by Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Cardiff and g39, chaired by Mermaid and Monster, the contemporary art agency for Wales. 'On Collecting' starts at 2.30pm at the National Museum.

UK clothes chain store Urban Outfitters officially opens its Cardiff branch in the St David's shopping centre today. See their website here. The 23,500 sq ft store will be located in the former David Morgan department store on The Hayes, which was previously occupied by Borders bookstore. The Cardiff store will be the first Urban Outfitters in Wales and one of the largest in the UK.

Crumbs in Morgan Arcade is 40 years old today – making it the oldest vegetarian restaurant in Cardiff.

The Llcensing sub committee will take place at 10am at City Hall.

Cardiff students are planning a 'surgery surge' at Jenny Willott's surgery at 2.30pm this afternoon at her constituency office to lobby the Cardiff Central Lib Dem MP on voting against a rise in tuition fees. Read yesterday's article on the demonstration here. Willot yesterday put out a message to her constituents regarding her stance on the fee rise.
