In the news, the Save Eglwys Newydd Action Group have said the closure of the school could seriously affect reception provision in the whole city, with parents worried the shortage of places available could mean young siblings are split up and sent to different schools. A Cardiff police officer has been given a national award for bravery after she saved a woman from jumping off a bridge. PC Elizabeth Window saw a woman teetering over Clarence Road bridge in Grangetown while on routine patrol and as she approached the woman she heard her muttering she would jump off – but the young police officer caught the suicidal woman by her hands and managed to hold onto her... read the rest of this story as reported in the South Wales Echo.
Muslims in Cardiff protested against laws which they see as being 'anti-Islam', BBC Wales reports. Gathering in the city centre, the Muslims said some laws being introduced in Europe were 'an ideological attack' on their religion.
The controversial traffic management scheme in the centre of Penarth is causing a mixed reaction in the community, reports the Penarth Times. Some traders are in support of the new one-way system, which will also allow room for more cars. But others say it is damaging their business. Read the full report here.
Also in Penarth, local cyclists have pledged to stage a protest at the opening of the much-awaited Pont Y Werin bridge tomorrow unless safer routes through Penarth leading to the bridge are promised by the Vale of Glamorgan council. More here.
