Cardiff today - full council later and Splott incinerator go-ahead

Good morning, Cardiff!

Today's big event is the full meeting of Cardiff Council at 4.30pm. One of the motions tabled calls for council to produce a considered and effectively scrutinized proposal to deal with food and garden waste, for which council are currently carrying 'excessive costs'.

Tonight Rachel Trezise launches her new novel Sixteen Shades of Crazy at Clwb Ifor Bach, 8pm. It's a book about the dreams and vices of a group of friends stuck in the valleys, and includes a lot of references to Cardiff. There will also be theatre from Samuel Bees, a pub quiz and music from Matt Jon.

In the news, Cardiff Council has approved plans for a £150m incinerator in Trident Park, Splott, reports WalesOnline. The waste to energy plant was rejected last year, but the company responsible has since made changes to their proposal that take into account the planning committee's concerns.
