Cardiff today - Fashion, Tescos and social media

Good morning Cardiff!

At City Hall the licensing sub committee will take place at 10am. Council appeals committee will take place at 2pm at County Hall.

Greener Grangetown litter pickers will meet at 2pm outside Channel View Centre, Jim Driscoll Way, the community litter picking event is organised by the Lower Grange Community Partnership with the assistance of Tidy Towns & Voluntary Action Cardiff.

At 2pm today magistrates will give their verdict on whether Tesco on St Mary Street will be licensed to serve alcohol following last week's hearing which we documented on the blog. I'll be bringing you the report from this afternoon's decision.

Tonight Cardiff Fashion blog will officially launch with a party at 10 Feet Tall starting at 6pm. There will be nibbles and the much-awaited 'blogakoke'. Take a look at our interview with editor Gwyneth Moore here.

Last night's council meeting included heated debates on the local development plan and council allowances. You can see the live blog here and I'll be bringing you a round up this morning. In the news, American company Western Power has written to residents explaining the draining of the Llanishen reservoir is needed despite the Environment Agency saying the drain down to inspect a pipe was not needed. Read the full report on WalesOnline here.

Opponents to the new build on the Rumney recreation ground have aired their objections after the site was given the go ahead by Welsh Assembly Government, reports BBC Wales.

Emergency services were called to Penarth after residents became aware of a gas leak at the Billybanks, reports Penarth Times.
