Today, the new Dairy design hub in Pontcanna will open its cafe for local residents – we popped in this weekend to see how the new artspace is coming along and the commissioned graffiti piano does indeed look good. Read our feature about the local design project here.
Tonight the Cathays partnerships and communities together (PACT) meeting will take place at the Crwys Road Methodist Centre from 7pm as will the Splott PACT which will be held at the Star Leisure centre on Splott road at the same time. See more on ourbobby.com.
As roadworks in the city centre continue, traffic operators have also informed part of Albany Road will also be closed until Thursday. The specific junction is with Blenheim Road and Wellfield Road so make sure you plan an alternative route.

In the news, Cardiff Council has admitted it does not know how many resident only parking bays there are in the city – leaving residents to struggle to find a place on their own street. Read the article on WalesOnline.
Rodney Berman has hit back over the debate about whether Cardiff should have a directly elected mayor, reports WalesOnline. The council leader has challenged the comments from other city politicians on the point the city needs a figurehead with a powerful personal mandate. Berman told the Echo:
"One of the things that struck me is that people talk about a London-style mayor. A council mayor would have a completely different set of powers.
"The mayor of Watford is the head of a district council. She has no more powers than any local authority. It doesn't give that person any more power than the current system does. The only difference is how that person gets chosen to do the job."

In Sport Craig Bellamy kicked off his debut with Cardiff City to help the team win against Doncaster 4-0. ITV Wales reports Cardiff City sold more than 1,000 Bellamy shirts on Saturday. Meanwhile Cardiff Blues won 26-21 against Exeter Chiefs.
As September approaches many people will begin to think about starting a new course for the new academic year. Cardiff Council have listed some the neighbourhood learning schemes going on in the city – highlighting the motivation of 80-year-old Viv Bushel who takes painting and drawing at the Severn Road adults learning centre.
