Good morning Cardiff!
Cardiff Central Assembly member Jenny Randerson will today be sworn into the House of Lords, following the official notification of her peerage in the London Gazette.
Commenting on her peerage Jenny said:
"I am not standing down as an AM until the Assembly breaks for election so my priority for the next two months will be the people of Cardiff Central who elected me to do a job for the full Assembly.
"When I become a full time Baroness in April it will be my priority to fight Wales' corner on a range of issues as sometimes I feel that there is a poor understanding of devolution in the Westminster village.
"The issues that I have promoted in the Bay will continue to be important to me in the House of Lords. My top priority will be to use every opportunity to emphasise the need for investment in Welsh jobs and the Welsh economy.
"Beyond that I will continue to press issues such as healthy school food and the need for presumed consent on organ donation which have long been a particular interest of mine."
Randerson was leader of the opposition on Cardiff council between 1994 and 1999. In 1999, she stood in Cardiff central for the new Welsh Assembly and was elected with a majority of over 3000.
