Good morning Cardiff!
Today council meetings get underway with the public protection committee meeting at 10.30am this morning – topics on the agenda include the recommendation to make the Stephenson Court area on Newport Road an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) following a report of increased pollution levels, street traders in The Hayes will be allocated new pitches.
At 4.30pm the standards and ethics committee will meet once again to talk about blogging and how councillors and council officers can use the online medium. The presentation will be given by Catherine Thomas.
Last night a public meeting was held to discuss the recent council furore over the first minister's schools reorganisation decision in Canton was organised by councillor Neil McEvoy – leader of the Plaid Cymru group. We'll be bringing you news from this meeting shortly.
What's making Cardiff tick in the news
Cardiff Council has announced a major refurbishment to Cardiff Central bus station which started yesterday. The £300K improvements will include better seating facilities, roofing, flooring, lighting and public information and access points. New gateway facilities will also be introduced as well as staff to answer any questions at a new information kiosk. City chief for transport, Delme Bowen, said:
"Our aim is to encourage more people to use buses in Cardiff to help reduce congestion and pollution throughout the city. We recognise the importance of the continued provision of an effective bus/rail interchange, and related facilities for long distance coach services to be retained close to Cardiff Central Railway Station so that they are integrated effectively with local, regional and national rail services."
Services affected during the works will be 92,94, 95 and X91.

On fix my street Cardiff things are being dumped across the city – a car tyre in Cathays and a cooker in Llandaff and more potholes have been reported in Lisvane, Heath and Cyncoed.
