Cardiff surgery closed due to suspected case of coronavirus

A Cardiff healthcare centre has been closed after a suspected case of coronavirus.

Llanedeyrn Healthcare has shut its doors as the case is investigated. A statement from the centre, which is based at The Maelfa, has said that all calls are being diverted to the Llanrumney branch.

A statement said: "If you have an appointment in Llandedeyrn today, please give us a call. Thank you in advance for your co-operation."

Last week, two surgeries closed to be deep-cleaned after patients arrived with coronavirus symptoms.

Dinas Powys Medical Centre was closed for around 40 minutes on Friday and last Thursday the Cyncoed Medical Centre in  Pontprennau was put on lock down after a patient with suspected coronavirus came in for an appointment.

There are 15 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Wales. Nine new cases were announced on Tuesday evening. Two of the patients are from  Carmarthenshire  and recently returned from northern Italy together.

The other seven patients were tested following tracing in connection with the  Neath Port Talbot  resident who tested positive at the weekend.

One of the seven patients is from the Cardiff local authority area, one is from the Swansea local authority area and the other five are all from the Neath Port Talbot local authority area.
