Cardiff stabbing death: Momodoulamin Saine appears in court charged with murder

A man has appeared in court charged with murder after a 21-year-old was stabbed to death in Cardiff city centre. 

Momodoulamin Saine, 27 and from Cardiff, appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday after being charged following the death of 21-year-old Asim Khan, from Grangetown.

South Wales Police officers were called to St Mary Street, in Cardiff city centre, at around 4.50am on Sunday, July 21, following reports of an assault.

Saine, of Bishopton Road, Ely, was charged with murder and appeared in court only to confirm his date of birth and address. 

He was remanded in custody and will appear at Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday. 

Saine appeared in the dock wearing a grey jumper and was flanked by two officers. 

Mr Khan was treated by emergency services at the scene and then taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, where he died from his injuries.

Detectives are still appealing for information and are asking for information and digital footage to be submitted online via a public portal.
