A business which sells uniforms to thousands of parents in Cardiff has been hit by a devastating fire at a tyre garage in the east of Cardiff.
Yee Wai Lim, 28, is the director of both YC Sports and Rhino Direct, which support sports kit and school uniforms. Both companies store their stock at warehouses on the industrial estate.
Mr Lim said he has lost close to £2million pounds worth of stock because of the blaze at Topline Tyres on Seawall Road in Tremorfa.
He said he hoped it would not affect their ability to supply parents as YC Sports stocks a lot of its uniforms in its stores and the business is working hard to rent a new warehouse and obtain more stock in the next few weeks.
Mr Lim said he was phoned by a friend who told him a nearby garage was on fire.
He said: "We were told a nearby garage was on fire and at the time it wasn't a huge fire so we were thinking it would be okay and it would be over soon.
"My dad decided to go and take a look and phoned me straight away to tell me the extent of the fire. I rushed straight down and watched the building go down in flames.
"It was absolutely heartbreaking watching that. My dad has run YC sports for almost 40 years and we've put in so much work.
"We're fully insured but that doesn't matter right now. Customers orders are going to be affected and now we need to find a new warehouse and purchase all of our stock again."
Mr Lim has also thanked Cardiff council for helping him find a new warehouse which he hopes to get up and running in the next few weeks.
He added: "Cardiff council have helped us a lot and have stepped in to help find us a warehouse.
"It's going to be a tough few weeks and we'll be working around the clock to get everything back to normal."
