Cardiff outline Harry Wilson transfer plan ahead of Liverpool loan return

Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman expects Liverpool will look to sell Harry Wilson permanently this summer, as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.

The Wales international has caught the eye with Cardiff this season, following on from loan stints with Derby County and Bournemouth in recent years.

In south Wales, Wilson has contributed seven goals and 12 assists in 37 league appearances and, understandably, the club would be delighted to have him back next year.

Dalman has confirmed Cardiff are interested in signing the Welsh international but admitted circumstances would need to change for his move to be made permanent.

"I would imagine Liverpool will be looking to sell him," Dalman told BBC Radio Wales.

"Liverpool knows our desire to have him back.

"If there’s any change in the circumstances there I’m pretty confident Liverpool will let us know.”

Rising through the youth ranks at Liverpool, Wilson is yet to appear for the club in the Premier League but made his first-team debut in January 2017 off the bench in an FA Cup tie against Plymouth Argyle.

Numerous loan spells have followed, with Wilson spending time with Hull City, Derby County, Bournemouth and Cardiff in the years since.

With first-team opportunities limited at Anfield, and Wilson's contract situation being precarious, a sale may be on the cards this summer.

Suitors should be fairly easy to come by, with Steven Gerrard's Rangers heavily linked with an interest as well as Leeds United in the Premier League.
