A 44-year-old man proved a tricky catch after jumping in the River Taff trying to escape officers in a police chase.
On Thursday afternoon officers were called to Constant Close, Cardiff, to a report of domestic abuse in the street.
South Wales Police say the suspect, from Grangetown, escaped the officers at around 3pm, running down The Marl and then jumping into the river near the leisure centre in Channel View.

Undeterred, the officers quickly "commandeered" a boat and caught up with him as he swam towards Cardiff Bay Barrage.
In a Facebook post regarding the incident, South Wales police thanked the boat owner for helping the officers, adding: "Some people will do anything to get away from police – like jump in the #RiverTaff and try to swim away."
The incident ended safely an hour later.
The man, who has not been named, has been arrested on suspicion of assault and South Wales Police say that he remains in police custody and enquiries are on-going.
In relation to the domestic abuse incident, South Wales Police say that safeguarding measures are in place.
