Are moustaches about to replace beards as in-fashion facial hair? Or are we just approaching Movember ... again?
Andrew and Bill Whitbread-Brown are on holiday in India. They've been practicing a bit of moustache diplomacy.
The Cardiff Heights couple sent us this photo, which clearly shows the power of the moustache to unite people the world over.
"Indian people love our moustaches," Andrew said.
The photo was taken at Amber Fort, near Jaipur.
Andrew said the traffic was chaotic and "a bit beyond scary at times around Delhi and Jaipur".
"There are wondering cows, pigs and camels at differing times on our trip," he said.
"People are courteous here. Even when the millions of cars, tuks-tuks [rickshaws], tourist buses and the odd cow roam the crowded streets of Delhi."
He said Delhi was full of magical temples with begging children "harassing traffic stuck in seemingly endless queues".
"These children, as young as four, beg for money for food.
"Our guide told us the four things you need to drive in India are a good horn, good brakes, good heart and good luck."
Andrew added that the people were "beautiful and friendly".
We wondered if he'd sampled the local butter chicken.
"We've been eating Indian food with items we don't see at our local Indian restaurants. Magnificent food," he said.
After all that, we kinda feel like we're in the middle of a Salman Rushdie novel. Minus the fatwa, of course.
Statue Talk
Last Monday, we wrote about calls for an Andrew Johns statue outside McDonald Jones Stadium.
A GoFundMe page has been set up with the aim of raising $50,000 to fund the statue.
Ross Greig, of New Lambton, said if there was going to be a statue of a rugby league player outside the stadium, there had to be one of a soccer player, too.
"I get a bit sick of these rugby league blokes thinking the ground is the Knights' home ground. That really rankles with me. The stadium belongs to two teams," he said.
"The Jets are just as important as the Knights."
Ross said statue contenders must have "actually played at the stadium on more than one occasion".
He nominated three people for a statue of a Newcastle soccer player - Craig Johnston, Col Curran and Joe Senkalski.
"Johnston loved playing for Newcastle KB United. He played on that ground with KB in two guest stints, both in 1978 and 1982 - he loved every minute of it. He said playing for his home club was just as important as winning the FA Cup for Liverpool," Ross said.
"Col Curran played for Newcastle KB United and was the only Newcastle-born player to play for Australia in the 1974 World Cup."
Joe Senkalski was also a Socceroo. He played for KB United between 1978 and 1984.
Ross said Paul Harragon, Danny Buderus and Matt Gidley should be in the reckoning for a statue of a rugby league player.
"I'm not against Andrew Johns being there. He was a bit of a naughty boy off-field sometimes, but that's another story. He deserves all the accolades he gets, certainly on-field," Ross said.
We imagine one of the next questions in this discussion will be, what about a statue of a female soccer or rugby league player?
