Cardiff City urged to 'tie down' on-loan Nottingham Forest winger

On-loan Nottingham Forest winger Albert Adomah has been impressing during his spell at Cardiff City.

The 32-year-old joined the Bluebirds in January, for the second half of the season, and has made five appearances so far.

In a column for WalesOnline, former Cardiff striker Nathan Blake says he would like to see Adomah extend his stay in South Wales, having struck up a good partnership with Wolves loanee Dion Sanderson on the right flank.

“The Bluebirds suddenly look a real threat down this right-hand side now,” Blake said, reflecting on last weekend’s 2-2 draw at home to Brentford.

“I loved the way Albert Adomah and Dion Sanderson dovetailed in attack, and long may that continue.

“What brilliant additions they look to have been.

“Adomah has been directly involved in a couple of goals already since he came in and looks like a real solid addition to the squad.

“He played a beautiful ball in for Junior Hoilett to head home against Brentford on the weekend, following a lovely little bit of link-up play down that right-hand side.

“And it was no coincidence that it came from an initial Sanderson burst down that wing.

“Sanderson and Adomah arrived in the January transfer window and, if given time, that partnership will be very good, of that I have no doubt.

“Fingers crossed the club will be able to tie them down to another deal next season and if they are both playing and doing well, why wouldn’t they?”

Adomah signed for the Reds last summer and featured 27 times, scoring three goals, though was mostly used as a substitute.

Having fallen down the pecking order, and with Forest bringing in Adama Diakhaby during the transfer window, he headed to Cardiff.

He was unable to play in last week’s game between the two sides, which ended in a 1-0 win for Sabri Lamouchi’s men.

“Adomah is a great player with great experience. He’s not as quick as he used to be, but for someone who is at the tail end of his career, he has definitely lifted expectation,” Blake added.

“He has been consistently good since he arrived and that, as we all know, has been a massive problem for Cardiff City wingers in recent times.

“But now you look and Adomah has Sanderson behind him.

“What has Sanderson got that perhaps Adomah doesn't anymore? Legs. He is going to sprint up and down that touchline all day, both in attack and defence.

“Adomah is giving you lovely crosses, as evidenced against the Bees, but now has the option to cut inside with Sanderson bombing down on the overlap to create more space.”
