Cardiff City transfer news as target 'opens talks' over move and second departure in 24 hours confirmed

Here's your round-up of all the latest Cardiff City transfer headlines for Saturday, May 21.

Cardiff 'open talks' for Allsop

Cardiff City have reportedly opened talks for free agent Ryan Allsop.

According to Football Insider, negotiations have already begun with the 29-year-old, and Cardiff are 'well-placed' to get a deal done. Should those reports prove to be accurate, it may well prompt questions over the future of Dillon Phillips, who's already set to face increased competition from the arrival of former Newcastle United keeper Jak Alnwick.

It seems unlikely that Cardiff would keep all three on their books for the coming season, but Allsop is a name who has been on the radar for some time and he may well still have admirers in the capital.

Patten confirms departure

Cardiff youngster Keenan Patten has confirmed that he's leaving the club this summer.

The midfielder spent most of last season on loan at non-league Hereford, but has now brought an end to a 14-year stay in the capital. Confirming his departure on social media, he wrote: "Would like to thank everybody at @cardiffcityfc. The staff, fans, teammates and especially my family for the support and development over the last 14 years.

"Looking forward to a tough off season and excited to see what the next chapter holds for me."

Patten is the second player to confirm his exit in 24 hours, with centre-back Aden Flint posting a similar message on Friday night.

Cardiff are yet to release their retained list ahead of the summer, although Alex Smithies and Marlon Pack have also confirmed that they will be leaving after the expiration of their respective contracts.

Collins 'jumped through hoops' to complete City move

Steve Morison says he's already been struck by the enthusiasm of new boy Jamilu Collins.

The Nigerian completed a move to the Bluebirds on Friday, becoming the club's fourth signing of the summer, and Morison says the 27-year-old is already eager to get started.

"He's jumped through hoops to come here," Morison told the club's official website. "The feedback I've had from everyone is that he's buzzing to come here. I've been doing everything I can to get him over here. He's had a couple of days in Cardiff and really enjoyed himself. He's ready to go."

Speaking about his excitement for the move, Collins himself added: "The club has a great history. When I got the call up to come to Cardiff I was so excited and I couldn't resist.

"I can't wait to meet my new team-mates. There's always competition. Competition is always welcome. It's really, really good. Right now I can think about my new club and I'm really, really excited about it. I can't wait to meet the supporters and fight for these supporters and this jersey."

Rabbi in line for awards

Former Cardiff starlet Rabbi Matondo is in line for two awards out in Belgium.

The winger has been in tremendous form out on loan for Cercle Brugge, netting 10 goals in 27 appearances. One of those strikes, against KV Kortrijk, has been nominated for the league's Goal of the Season award.

That's not all, Matondo has also been nominated for the Young Player of the Year, alongside Charles De Ketelaere of Club Brugge and Sergio Gomez of Anderlecht.
