Cardiff City transfer news as summer signing set to leave on loan and Bluebirds sound out targets despite embargo

Here's your round-up of all the latest Cardiff City news for Wednesday, December 28.

Vontae Campbell lined up for loan

Cardiff boss Mark Hudson has confirmed Vontae Daley-Campbell could be loaned out when the January window opens.

The right-back has struggled for game time since his summer move to the capital, having made just one appearance for the Bluebirds this term, and it now seems as though he could be lined up for a loan spell away.

Cardiff are currently under a transfer embargo, but are still free to loan players out when the window opens. There could well be a few young players set for temporary stints away.

Ollie Tanner has already been told he could be loaned out, and Daley-Campbell will potentially follow, along with a couple of other younger players.

"I think Vontae maybe [might go out] if we find the right loan," he said. "I think Ollie Tanner knows and that's been communicated to him.

"For the younger ones, they've got to be the right loans. They've got to want to come and get those players. We're not going to put them into a position where they go to a club and don't play.

"We'll keep pushing and see what's right for the player and the club and we'll see where we go from there."

Cardiff issued warning on Langstaff

Notts County boss Luke Williams says it will take 'something incredible' to prise star striker Macaulay Langstaff from Meadow Lane in January.

The forward has netted 21 goals in 23 games for the Magpies, and has subsequently become one of the hottest properties in the National League.

WalesOnline understands Cardiff have been watching the 25-year-old, who's also been linked with rivals Swansea City and Bristol City, although the Bluebirds' current transfer embargo perhaps means a move is unlikely.

In any case, Williams insists it will take a significant offer to snap up the striker.

"It's obvious for us, these things are going to happen, but it is one thing being linked and another being serious," he told the Nottingham Post.

"Before Macaulay came to Notts County he was linked with everyone, teams in League One, League Two, the National League, but we were the club that were most serious.

"We are the club that made it happen, it is one thing to be talked about and speculated but another thing to be really serious about that.

"Macca is in a brilliant place, he has a team around him that adore him and a team that try to give him opportunities to score.

"He is having a fantastic season, so for Macca to leave the club at this point, it would have to take something incredible."

Embargo update

Hudson says Cardiff are continuing to fight their ongoing transfer embargo, and says the club are continuing to sound out potential targets ahead of the January window.

"It's part and parcel of what goes on behind the scenes of the window," he said. "You put the work in. There's lots of people working behind the scenes that maybe aren't seen by others. But there's constant conversations with agents, players over availability with clubs and we're continuing to look, which is a positive.

"At this moment, we are where we are with the squad. We are in constant dialogue and they're still fighting the situation behind the scenes. Again, we have to keep going day by day.

"It's not as if we won't get a window. But at the moment, we're planning without one, because you never know how these things go. Any more on that you'll have to speak to the chairman.

Adams update

Ebou Adams is set to see a specialist this week as he continues on the road to full fitness.

Adams recently went under the knife for a 'clearing up' operation on the front of his knee, having missed the first few months of the season due to an injury that saw him rip his pectoral muscle rip off the bone

He now looks set to see the same specialist this week, and Hudson is hoping to have the midfielder back in training by the end of the month.

"He's going to see the surgeon that operated on him to have his final check off," the Cardiff boss said. "But everything internally says it's gone well. He's going Thursday to see the specialist just so he gets to sign off basically.

"I'm not going to put a time frame on him. I'd like to see him back in and around training by the end of January hopefully."
