Cardiff City transfer news as Preston boss rules out move for Bluebirds target and Davies closes in on first team return

Here's your round-up of all the latest Cardiff City news for Sunday, December 4.

Lowe rules out Langstaff move

Preston North End boss Ryan Lowe insists he has no interest in Notts County hotshot Macaulay Langstaff amid interest from Cardiff.

The 25-year-old has been in red-hot form in the National League, and netted in his side's 4-1 win over Scunthorpe United on Saturday, his 19th goal in 20 games this term.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, he has now been linked with a move further up the pyramid ahead of the January transfer window, with Preston among several Championship sides to have been credited with interest over the World Cup break.

However, Lowe has seemingly ruled out a move. According to our colleagues at LancashireLive, Lowe told Sky Sports on Saturday: “The local papers around Preston, they try and get a bit of information don’t they, but I can categorically tell you he’s not on my radar.”

WalesOnline understands Cardiff have taken a closer look at Langstaff in recent weeks, but that i's as far as their interest has gone at this stage, with a move to League One seemingly more likely.

Davies steps up return

Isaak Davies stepped up his long-awaited return from injury after starting for City's under-21s against Wolves on Saturday.

The forward hasn't seen a single minute of first team action this season after picking up a knee injury in the summer, but played out 45 minutes for the under-21s as they slumped to a frustrating 1-0 defeat.

Commenting on his return, the Welshman tweeted: "Been a long 7 months out. Felt so good being back out there."

But while the return of Davies was a huge positive, boss Darren Purse wasn't happy with the level of his side's performance, with Fraser Harper's goal proving enough to condemn the young Bluebirds to defeat.

“We didn’t do the basics well enough,” Purse said. “We were average in possession; we were naïve at times and that naivety has cost us. We said to the boys at Reading last week that a goal is going to win you the game, especially when these games are so tight, but unlike against Reading, we were on the wrong end of it this week.

"It’s a tough game to take. Did we deserve to win it? No, because we didn’t do enough. Did we deserve to get beat? Probably not. It was a game of fine margins and ultimately, they had the quality when it mattered to nick a result.”

Derby day ends in draw

Cardiff City Women fought back to salvage a point against Swansea City Ladies in the South Wales derby at the Swansea.com Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

More than 1,300 fans were in attendance as Cardiff bit to get one over on the defending Adrian Premier champions.

Katy Horsford opened the scoring for the hosts just after the break, after latching on to a well-worked through-ball from Stacey John-Davis.

But Cardiff bounced back, with Phoebe Poole looping an effort home 20 minutes from time, a goal which denied the hosts the chance to narrow Cardiff's five-point lead at the top of the table.
