Cardiff linked with Barnes
Cardiff City are among a clutch of Championship clubs reportedly interested in Burnley striker Ashley Barnes.
According to The Sun, the Bluebirds are monitoring the 33-year-old, who's now out of contract at Turf Moor, but face competition from a number of Championship clubs.
Stoke City, Preston North End and Norwich City have all been credited with interest.
Millwall too have also been mentioned as a possibility, although there are already doubts over whether the Lions will be able to offer the financial package needed to lure Barnes to south London.
There are similar concerns around Cardiff's interest too, with the club unlikely to have the resources necessary to compete with some of the more lucrative offers potentially made by their rivals.
Lamouchi - We have to get creative
Cardiff City boss Sabri Lamouchi admits the club will have to get creative in the summer transfer market.
The Bluebirds remain under an EFL embargo due to their previous failure to pay the first instalment of the £15m transfer fee for striker Emiliano Sala, although having now stumped up the cash they are bidding to overturn that decision.
Nevertheless, as things stand they will not be able to spend money on any sort of fee in the upcoming window.
Lamouchi himself doesn't yet know if he will be here to oversee Cardiff's next recruitment drive, but insists the club can, even under current conditions, get the players needed to compete next season.
"We just need a little bit of creativity [in the market] because under the embargo we cannot pay," he said after Sunday's defeat to Burnley. "We cannot buy. We cannot anything. So we need just a little bit of creativity and have a clear project.
"We have to focus on that.
"There's a gap in quality between Burnley and us. But they came from the Premier League. Don't forget that. The gap is so huge between the two clubs and two squads.
"The mission was to stay up. Job done. We stayed up. So next, I want to know. We want to know and we will probably know soon.
"We have friends. We have a network," he said when asked if he might be tempted to look abroad for potential signings.
"Cardiff is an attractive place, it's a big name in UK football and in Wales. We just need to take the right players with the right mentality to understand our plan, to try and play for something different other than relegation."
Under-21s sign off with victory
Owen Pritchard netted a brace as Cardiff City's under-21s side finished their season with a 4-2 win over Crewe Alexandra at Leckwith on Tuesday afternoon.
Pritchard bagged his first of the afternoon with a thunderous strike from the edge of the area after just two minutes, before Muhammad Jatta levelled for the visitors.
Cian Ashford then restored City's lead just before the half-hour mark, only for Jatta to restore parity once more a few minutes later.
But Cardiff took control in the second half, with Pritchard firing home his second of the afternoon, before Japhet Matondo rounded off the win eight minutes from time.
