Cardiff City to warm up for Leeds United clash with friendly against Championship opposition this weekend

Cardiff City will warm up for their Championship clash against Leeds United next weekend with a friendly against Swansea City on Saturday.

Marcelo Bielsa's men will make their Championship return in south Wales on Sunday June 21 against Neil Harris' play-off hopefuls after what will have been a 15-week suspension of the season.

Clubs are permitted to play friendly matches in order to hone their fitness after the lay-off, but face a series of restrictions to ensure safety, including not being able to travel more than 90 minutes by car to an opponent.

The two Welsh sides, who have already met twice this season, are both within three points of the play-off spots and with limited options of who they are permitted to play, will meet in a behind-closed-doors match on Saturday, report WalesOnline.

Details of the venue and kick-off time have not been disclosed, amid concerns from the police and authorities.

A total of nine matches remain in the 2019-20 season for each side in the second tier, with Leeds sitting at the top of the table, a point ahead of West Bromwich Albion and seven clear of third-placed Fulham.

Leeds take on Cardiff on Sunday June 21 in a 12 noon kick-off which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
