Cardiff City to host Nice in pre-season friendly

Cardiff City have confirmed they will host French side OGC Nice in a pre-season friendly this summer.

The Ligue 1 outfit, under the stewardship of Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, will visit the Cardiff City Stadium for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday, July 27.

Nice finished seventh in the French league last season, and will likely present a tough test for Neil Warnock's side as they prepare to launch a bid for instant promotion back to the Premier League.

Upon confirming the news, Executive Director & CEO, Ken Choo said: “In its decade since opening, Cardiff City Stadium has already hosted a number of exciting European showcases.

"We’re very much looking forward to welcoming OGC Nice, their directors, staff, and supporters to South Wales for this pre-season match."

Neil Warnock added: "We were delighted to get this friendly sorted for the final Saturday before the season begins.

"Nice are a big side and will pose a tough test for our squad."

The fixture is Cardiff's only home game of the summer, with the Bluebirds already confirming they will visit the United States and Canada for another three matches.

City will take on San Antonio FC on July 13 at Toyota Field Stadium, before heading to the UNM Soccer Stadium in Albuquerque five days later to face fellow USL Championship outfit New Mexico United.

They will end the tour with a visit to Edmonton Canada on July 20, where they will face Real Valladolid.

Meanwhile, a Cardiff XI will also take on Southern League Division One side Larkhall Athletic on July 12.
