Cardiff City statement in full as club confirm Sabri Lamouchi exit but no mention of Sol Bamba

Cardiff City have confirmed they have parted company with Sabri Lamouchi.

WalesOnline learned on Tuesday morning that the club had decided against offering the Frenchman a new deal after he met with owner Vincent Tan in London last Thursday.

Lamouchi had been put in charge, with Cardiff legend Sol Bamba as his No.2, on a short-term deal after Tan had got rid of Mark Hudson and Steve Morison earlier in the campaign.

Lamouchi's record from his 18 matches in charge saw Cardiff win six, draw two and lose 10, albeit he did take over a squad of players largely devoid of confidence and deserves credit for achieving the target he was set. However, Cardiff have opted to move in a new direction, as confirmed by their statement Tuesday lunchtime.

There was no mention of Bamba in the statement, however, with the Bluebdirds fans' favourite's future still seemingly up in the air.

"Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that Sabri Lamouchi will depart at the conclusion of his current deal," they wrote.

"Sabri joined the Bluebirds at the end of January 2023, overseeing 18 fixtures, and winning six matches. Cardiff City would like to thank Sabri for his efforts and contribution in helping us secure our place in the Championship for 2023/24 and wish him all the very best for the future.

"The Board of Directors at Cardiff City FC have already begun the process of appointing a new management team."
