Cardiff City sign three players and hand out six new contracts

Cardiff City have continued their week of positive announcements after completing a number of deals within the academy system.

The Bluebirds have made early headway in their transfer plans for the senior set-up, having announced the signings of James Collins, Mark McGuinness and Ryan Wintle in recent weeks.

However, work is still going on behind the scenes in the youth set-up and in an exciting announcement, Cardiff confirmed they had signed three new players as well as tying down a further six to fresh terms.

The most senior player is Welsh youth international Sam Bowen, who was named in a number of first-team squads by Mick McCarthy last season.

The 20-year-old, son of former Bluebirds player Jason Bowen, has penned a new two-year contract with the club.

Other youngsters to extend their stay are Owen Pritchard, Ryan Kavanagh, Eli King and Taylor Jones, all of whom have signed their first professional deals after completing two-year apprenticeships.

Goalkeeper Nativ Yanko, meanwhile, has agreed a monthly deal with the Bluebirds.

In addition, Cardiff have also announced the arrival of three new signings.

It was reported earlier this week that former Crystal Palace and England youth goalkeeper Rohan Luthra would join the Bluebirds following his release from the south London club and that has proved the case.

Jai Semenyo, a promising 17-year-old right-back who is the brother of Bristol City star Antoine, comes in after the club announced the departure of academy right-back Camron McWilliams this summer.

The final academy signing is James Connolly, a former Blackburn Rovers central defender.

All new arrivals have put pen to paper on one-year deals.
