Cardiff City send message over midfielder linked with Bristol City, Stoke City and Sunderland

Cardiff City are not willing to let Will Vaulks leave this transfer window.

Bristol City were one of a number of clubs linked with the midfielder, along with Stoke City and Sunderland.

The Wales international was linked with a move to the Robins due to a lack of game time at Cardiff, who he joined from Rotherham United in the summer.

Yet Wales Online report that Cardiff view Vaulks as vital to the squad going forward and intend to keep him at the club this month.

The midfielder, who can also play right-back, recently vented his frustration over a lack of playing time under former Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock.

Vaulks had considered leaving Cardiff on loan this month in search for game time, which is probably where the link to City along with Stoke and Sunderland, came from.

Yet new Cardiff boss Neil Harris has re-integrated Vaulks into the first-team, with appearances in both the Championship and the FA Cup.

It is unclear how much the Robins were really interested in Vaulks, and he may just have been a player the club were keeping tabs on as speculation grows around Josh Brownhill's future at Ashton Gate.
