Cardiff City sack manager Mark Hudson just days before Leeds United FA Cup replay

Cardiff City have sacked their manager Mark Hudson just three days before their F.A Cup replay against Leeds United is scheduled to take place.

The Bluebirds, who haven't won a match since early November, drew to bottom-of-the-Championship Wigan Athletic after conceding a 96th-minute equaliser at home.

The result leaves them just one place above the relegation zone, and the club has decided to sack former captain Hudson after just four months in charge at the Cardiff City Stadium.

In a statement released by the club after the draw, they wrote: "Cardiff City Football Club has relieved Mark Hudson of his duties as First Team Manager.

"The Board of Directors would like to place on record its thanks to Mark for all of his work as a player, coach and manager whilst with the Bluebirds. We wish Mark all the very best of luck for the future. The Club’s search for a new permanent manager will begin immediately."

In the meantime, Dean Whitehead will be staying at the club as an interim boss and will be in charge of the dugout when they travel to Elland Road on Wednesday night.

Both sides were involved in a 2-2 draw in the F.A Cup third-round which has seen the necessity of a replay, while whoever progresses will face either National League side Boreham Wood or League One's Accrington Stanley.
